Integrity

Operating with integrity is a key part of coaching successfully. It’s all about being honest and having a strong moral compass. In today’s unsettled political world, integrity seems to be in question like never before.

I feel sad when a coaching relationship comes to an end but it’s always because a certain point has been reached so that my coachee no longer needs the same level of support for a particular need. My sadness stems from having got to know someone over, usually, a six to eight month period and being involved in their lives and careers. We’re not friends but we get close.

In that sense, I am operating with integrity and encouraging my clients not to be dependent on me.

There’s also a tremendous satisfaction in seeing people grow and move on, knowing that I’ve supported them and played a small part in that development. Being able to see that and not hang on to the monthly fee aligns with my moral code. As William Blake said:

He who binds to himself a joy,

Doth the winged life destroy.

He who kisses the joy as it flies,

Lives in eternity’s sunrise.

If you need some support, a sounding board, for a particular issue, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Savouring a moment rather than grabbing hold and not letting go means operating with integrity.
